Janease Marie Harms, 85, was born Sept. 1, 1939, to William Fonzie Griffin and Anna Mable (Funkhouser) Griffin. She passed away Jan. 10, 2025, in her home located in Shannon County, Missouri.
She was a high school graduate and later attended St. Louis University’s School of Nursing where she received her degree in Nursing. She served her community by taking care of others.
Janease was married to Donald Lee Harms for 33 years before he passed away in 1992. They raised two children: Jeffery Lee and Melissa Storm Harms.
Janease is preceded in death by parents, William Fonzie Griffin and Anna Mable (Funkhouser) Griffin; husband, Donald Lee Harms; son, Jeffery Lee Harms; brothers, Rudy Griffin, Gary Griffin, Lowen Griffin, Kenny Griffin, and Friz Griffin; sister, JoAnn Griffin and great-grandson Jonathan Welker.
Survivors include her daughter, Stormy Harms; grandchildren, Levi, Richard, and MaKayla Bedrosian, great-granddaughter, Quinn Bedrosian, daughter-in-law, Tammy Harms; grandchildren, Jessica and Chuck Talley, Elica and Mike Cantrell; great-grandchildren, Mya Talley, Paradis Smith, Charles Talley III, Kesley Cantrell, Marlie Cantrell; and many nephews, nieces, and great-nephews and nieces.
She is also survived by her life partner, David Wayne Mekan. Together, they have spent many years playing music, and performing locally throughout the Ozarks.
Janease was a lover of God and was deeply committed to her faith and in her walk with Jesus.
Janease will be remembered for her warmth, kindness, and unwavering spirit, leaving behind a legacy of love and dedication to her family. She will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew her and loved her. May she rest in peace.
A family-guided Celebration of Life is planned for a later date. Cremation arrangements were under the direction of Yarber Mortuary, Winona, Missouri.
