On April 4, 2020 the Puxico Police Department assisted by the Fire Department are holding the first annual Spring Festival. The festivities with begin at 10 a.m. and will be held at the South Park next to the People’s Bank.
The purpose of this event is to build funds to support the annual Christmas Toy Drive held by the Police Department.
The Puxico Police Department are planning a great amount of activities to participate in during the Spring Festival. Activities including an Easter egg hunt, Bingo, bounce houses and southern gospel singing.
Puxico Police Officer, Brandon Throop, explains the activities and why they chose them.
“We will have activities for all ages to participate in.” Throop explained. “We will have southern gospel singings from different groups for families to enjoy, an Easter egg hunt for age categorized from 1-10 years of age, bounce houses for the children, food venders and craft venders for the family to check out.”
Throop then explained why he wanted to make this event happened this year.
“This event would give the community more to do and to be more involved.” Throop said. “This also assists in the Christmas Toy Drive that we hold every year. We have a goal of $5,000-6,000 this year which would allow us to give toys to families in need.”
Last year the Puxico Police Department gave out over 600 toys to around 160 children for Christmas.
Kasen Barnfield, a vender that will be participating in the Spring Festival, explains why he is getting involved.
“This event is a great way to get connected with the community, meet new people and to promote my side business.” Barnfield said. “It is also a wonderful opportunity to support the Christmas Toy Drive to help local families.”
Venders can still become involved with this event. Throop explained that there will be many venders but more are welcome.
“If more venders are interested in joining the festivities, they can.” Throop said. “To be a vender, it is $15 for a 10x10 space. All crafts, antiques, and other items are welcome to be brought.”
The events main purpose is to bring in financial support to the Christmas Toy Drive. This coincides the Fall Festival that is held annual by the Police Department, also. If community members would like to assist financially, the First Midwest Bank in Puxico will accept monetary donations to support the Christmas Toy Drive.
