No one was injured in a massive wreck at the One Mile Rd. and Business 60 intersection in Dexter, but the accident forced mid-morning traffic to be rerouted and left five smashed vehicles and a building damaged in its wake.
Emergency personnel were called to the scene around 9 a.m. Tuesday after a tractor trailer, while turning north onto One Mile Rd., had reportedly struck two vehicles in the intersection, dragging one of them northward on One Mile Rd. while continuing its turn. The driver eventually crossed a ditch where construction is taking place on Dexter's new USA Drug Store, smashing into two utility trucks on that parking lot. The impact sent one of the ladders atop the utility vehicle into the front brick work of the new building.
Eyewitnesses at the scene said the driver then exited the semi and a physical altercation ensued with several of the construction workers at the scene.
The driver of the truck, as yet unidentified, was placed under arrest and taken to Dexter City Jail. Charges have not yet been told.
