Four area residents were arrested on the charge of second-degree felony assault on Friday afternoon. According to the report, the incident occurred outside Bobbi Lynn's Hair Salon in Dexter, and resulted from the individuals being upset over having to clean up debris from the parking lot.

According to the probable cause affidavit, Corporal Kevin Cluck was dispatched to the scene at approximately 3:10 p.m., in reference to a fight. Cluck noted in his report that he had been previously dispatched to the same location earlier in the day in reference to two subjects who had been "dumpster diving."

Cluck identified the same two individuals from the previous call as being Daniel Frye, 30, of Bloomfield, and Natasha Frymire, 27, of Bloomfield. He also noticed two other individuals who he identified as Randy Frye, 34, of Essex, and Kelley Gaines, 25, of Dexter -- who he reported as knowing from "previous incidents."

According to the report, Cluck saw the four individuals standing near a vehicle, which was parked next to the dumpster; but, no one was fighting at the time. When Cluck asked if there had been a fight, the subjects answered "yes." When Cluck asked if anyone had been injured, he was informed that "maybe the guy inside" had been, and the subjects pointed toward the salon.

According to the report, Cluck and two other officers were on the scene, and Cluck entered the business where he saw a white male, identified as Jason Denny, with blood on his face and holding his left arm near his shoulder "as if he was in pain."

When asked what happened, Denny reported that he had been sent to the business by his boss, who represents the landlord of the salon, because the subjects were disrupting the business by scattering items from the dumpster all over the parking lot. Denny further stated that the subjects had been given permission to go through the dumpster by someone who wasn't authorized to do so.

Denny reported that his boss told him to tell the subjects they did not have permission and needed to leave the premises.

Denny reported that he made contact with the subjects and relayed the information to them, which caused the subjects to become verbally hostile toward him. The subjects agreed to leave, and Denny requested they clean up the items they had scattered on the parking lot before leaving.

Denny reported the subjects were "extremely agitated," so he decided to wait inside the salon until they left. Frymire reportedly entered the business a few minutes later and started yelling at him. Denny said he requested the discussion be moved outside in an attempt to not disturb the salon's business.

According to the report, upon stepping outside, both Randy and Daniel Frye attacked him by punching and kicking him. Denny stated he was knocked to the ground and both men continued to assault him. Denny said he was unsure if Frymire or Gaines ever were involved in the actual assault.

Numerous witnesses inside the salon reportedly offered the same account of events as Denny. One witness reportedly had stepped outside to stop the fight and was allegedly assaulted by Frymire.

Cluck reported that he was later informed Denny had suffered a dislocated left shoulder and had a small laceration above his left eye.

Both Randy and Daniel Frye have been formally charged with second-degree felony assault. There are no formal charges available for Frye or Gaines at this time.

Cluck noted that Frymire's alleged assault against the reporting witness would be addressed in the Dexter Municipal Court.
