BENTON -- A Dexter woman is in jail on drug and resisting arrest charges in Scott County.
Carla Bromley, 41, of Dexter, is charged with possession of a controlled substance (methamphetamine), a class C felony; deliver/possession of a controlled substance in a county jail, a class C felony; and resisting or interfering with an arrest, a class D felony, according to Scott County Sheriff Rick Walter.
Walter said while on patrol, Deputy Garrett Cook observed a vehicle sitting in the middle of the road. When Cook approached the vehicle to further investigate, he found the occupants inside acting extremely nervous, the sheriff said.
"Deputy Cook asked for consent to search the vehicle where he discovered a white powder substance inside Bromley's purse," Walter said.
After finding the powder tested positive for methamphetamine, Bromley fled the scene on foot and was taken into custody a short distance later without further incident.
"After arriving inside the county jail, Bromley was found to be in possession of two coffee filters containing a white powder substance which also tested positive for methamphetamine," Walter said.
Bromley remains in custody with bond set at $25,000.
