The Crowley's Ridge Chapter of the National Society of the Daughters of the American Revolution celebrated 25 years with a poolside reception on Sunday, May 18th. Betty McClintock (a 50 year member) and her husband, Bruce, were the hosts of the event at rural Dexter home.

The outdoor reception began with the Chapter Ritual by Frances Moore, Chapter Regent. A prayer of thanks for the spirit of friendship and patriotism was given by Jane Smith, Chapter Chaplain. A 25-year certificate was then presented to each of the six charter members by the Regent, Frances Moore. The six members were; sisters, Jane Smith (past Regent), and Jean Robinson (past Regent), Jane Flowers; Glynda Bates (Chapter Registrar), Charolette Wagner and Brenda Dowdy (not pictured). Charter members unable to attend were Delores Bailiff and Revalee Minton.

In the mid-1980's, several DAR members of the Kingshighway Chapter of Sikeston, and the Poplar Bluff Chapter saw a need to start a DAR Chapter in Dexter. Some of these members were Revelee Minton, the late Floy Gruen and the late Lindell Minton Stroud. On June 1, 1988, they met with Missouri State Regent and Crowley's Ridge Chapter was confirmed, and the National NSDAR assigned it the Chapter number, 6118 Mo., one of 107 Chapters in Missouri.

The purpose of the National Society DAR is "To perpetuate the memory of the spirit of the men and women who achieved American Independence; to promote the development of an enlightened public opinion; and to foster patriotic citizenship--these are the objects of our society, Daughters of the American Revolution."
