The Bloomfield School Board convened for its regular monthly meeting on Monday, Oct. 14, with a focus on evaluating district needs and planning for the future.
A highlight of the meeting was a presentation by three Future Farmers of America (FFA) officers: Caleb Upchurch, Katie Hendley, and Danyella Madrano. The trio provided an overview of FFA activities since the start of the school year, showcasing the program's achievements and contributions to the school community, Superintendent Jason Karnes said. The board expressed appreciation for their efforts, recognizing the importance of FFA in fostering leadership and agricultural education among students.
The board also approved the District Audit Report. Additionally, the board sanctioned various policies and procedures. A discussion on touring district facilities was also held, with plans to conduct a walkthrough in November to assess infrastructure needs and prioritize improvements.
The board acknowledged the donation of a new trailer by Flying A Motorsports, highlighting the role of community support in enhancing school resources. Updates on September enrollment figures, legislative developments, and the Comprehensive School Improvement Plan (CSIP) were also presented. In an executive session, the board approved Cameron Shipman as the new middle school head baseball coach.
The meeting concluded with a reaffirmation of the Board's commitment to evaluating and addressing district needs. The upcoming facility tour in November can help enhance the educational infrastructure. As the district moves forward, community involvement and support remain crucial to its ongoing development efforts.
