BLOOMFIELD — The Stoddard County Commission approved $68,481.61 in American Rescue Plan Act funds for the Stoddard County Ambulance District during Monday’s meeting.

The commissioners approved the purchase of a Stryker LIFEPAK 15 monitor/defibrillator for a cost of $41,403.71 and SimMan ALS high fidelity training mannequin for $27,077.90.

The LIFEPAK 15 monitors COVID-19 patients’ SpO2, temperature, waveform capnography/EtCO2, blood pressure and ECG. The monitor allows paramedics to test patients with a minimum of contact for their safety.

The ambulance district had seven of its 10 ambulances equipped with LIFEPAK 15 prior to this purchase.

Various conditions related to COVID-19 can be programmed into the SimMan mannequin so that paramedics may receive training.

“This particular simulator has the ability to produce realistic lung sounds, pulse oximetry, heart sounds, electrocardiogram and cyanosis,” Tyler Juden, SCAD assistant director, wrote in a letter to the commissioners.

The commission previously approved $140,134.90 in ARPA funds to SCAD:

• four UV-C disinfection lamps, including bulbs and touchscreen controls, for $15,980

• ACTIVTEK Induct 500 air purification system for $11,200.40

• six ZVent portable ventilators, plus carrying cases and battery replacement for $95,614.50 and

• 10 UE Scope VL460 monitors, cases, chargers and 60 single-use blades for $17,340.

So far, $208,616.51 of the $225,000 approved for SCAD by the commissioners has been spent, leaving the district with $16,383.49 in available funds.

Land lease

The commissioners voted 3-0 to renew a three-year lease of the county’s farm property located near the Missouri Veterans Cemetery south of Bloomfield with Jerry Elder.

The cost of the lease is $500 per year.

The county decided in 2015 to lease the property to someone to maintain the property rather than maintain the land itself. The lessee is allowed to maximize the growth of the grass and is allowed to harvest the hay for personal use or to sell.

Vietnam Veterans

Momument

During the Oct. 25 meeting, the commissioners voted 3-0 to pay $125 to add a name to the Stoddard County Vietnam Veterans Monument located next to the courthouse.

John Wayne Colbert, who died in 1968 in Vietnam, was believed to be ineligible because his mailing address was in Bollinger County, even though he lived near Kinder in Stoddard County.

Curt Finney approached the commission at a previous meeting, providing proof of Colbert’s service and death, to have his named added.
