Business aims to help Mission

One local business is reaching out to the community to lend a hand to the Stoddard County Gospel Mission.

When an employee at Williams Moving Co. was in the local mission recently, a conversation was struck that led to this "mission."

The Stoddard County Gospel Mission's Food Bank gives out food five days per week to local families and seniors in need of assistance. In all, they serve approximately 1,200 families per month.

Right now, their food supply is extremely low. At the holiday season, this is not the way they want to be operating.

As a result, Williams Moving Co. has decided to start a project to "Stuff a Moving Van" full of non-perishable food items that will be donated to the mission.

The importance of non-perishable items can not be overstated because the goods will not be refrigerated. Some examples of good donations include canned tuna/meat, soups, rice, pasta, beans, peanut butter, canned vegetables and canned fruit.

Items can be dropped off at Williams Moving Co. at One Mile Rd. and Hwy. 60 between Nov. 26 and Dec. 21. Drop off times are Monday through Friday from 8 a.m.-5 p.m.

A special one-day dropoff point will be set up at Walmart on Saturday, Dec. 8 from 9 a.m.-6 p.m.
