DELTA, Mo. -- An Advance man is dead after being struck by a truck while walking in the roadway on Route N north of Delta Thursday night -- one of two fatalities in Troop E on Thursday, Nov. 5.
According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, William R. Arnold, 45, was pronounced dead at the scene after being struck at 8:05 p.m. one-half mile north of the Delta community.
The westbound pickup truck, a 2005 Chevrolet Silverado, was driven by a Chaffee man, 29-year-old Dustin R. Campbell.
Arnold was pronounced dead by Cape County Coroner John Clifton. His death marks the 52nd fatality in Troop E in 2015.
Troop E's 51st fatality for the year took place Thursday morning in Pemiscot County south of Hayti. Everlene Fane, 60, of Hayti, was killed when the 2005 Chevrolet Uplander she was driving crossed the center line, overcorrected and ran off the left side of the roadway, striking a ditch and then overturning.
Fane was pronounced dead at the scene. A passenger in the vehicle, Arlene H. Whitley, 79, was airlifted to a Memphis hospital for treatment. Neither were equipped with seat belts at the time of the wreck.
