Area youngsters had fun in the sun Saturday, July 30, 2011 as Ducks Unlimited and Conservation Agents sponsored a duck and dove banding exercise at Otter Slough. Children of all ages were treated, as well, to a lesson from Paul Cieslewicz, a marine biologist from Cape Girardeau, who gave an exhibition on how the Conservation Dept. studies fish species at the Slough. Banding is held annually at Otter Slough as a method to track and study the habitat of water fowl.
