The Dexter High School Winter Sports Award Ceremony was held in the DHS Auditorium Thursday evening.

The Dexter student athletes earning
awards at the Dexter Winter Sports Ceremony are: Cole Nichols, Boys
Basketball Rebounding Award, MVP and Free Throw Award; Logan
Josupait, Boys Basketball Defensive Award; Caitlin Giles, Girls
Basketball Rebounding and Defensive Awards; Kate Nichols, Girls
Basketball MVP; Calysta Whitaker, Dance Team Award; Grace Sepulvado,
Basketball Cheerleading Award; Eric Harmon, Most Aggressive Wrester
and Wrestling MVP Awards and Kennedy McCormick Most Improved
Wrestler.

First year letter winners awarded at
the ceremony are: Wyatt Hockersmith, Conrad Purnell, Kodi Lynn,
Carson Mullins, Avin Vincent, Emily Barrett, Kaylie Cook, Emma
Worley, Rylee Eaton, Blair Medley, Ava Schaefer, Merideth Benton,
Meredith Nea, Nia Stromas, Klaire Essner, Karis Kennedy and Luke
Worley.

The 2023 Kyle Smith Memorial Scholarship was awarded to Cole Nichols.
Nichols is a senior at Dexter and a member of the Bearcats Basketball
and Baseball teams. Nichols is also a member of the National Honor
Society. Nichols set the Bearcat Career Scoring record scoring 1,983 points. The scholarship is named after former Dexter Statesman Sports
Editor who passed away unexpectedly. Pictured from left is Dexter

Truman Krapf received two special
basketballs during the ceremony. One was in recognition of his school
record for most three point baskets in a season (92) and the other
for most three point baskets made in a career (179).
