Kim Cook was the guest reader for the first session of Keller Public Library's Summer Reading Series. It's going to be all about heroes this summer -- real and fictional. Children were encouraged to dress as their favorite comic hero. Following Cook's readings, Dexter Fire Chief Don Seymore, along with Asst. Fire Chief Dave Row and Fireman Todd O'Dell demonstrated the gear that firemen wear while firefighting and Seymore answered questions from the crowd of children before inviting them outside to see one of the pumpers in action. Children were also given an opportunity to play under the spray from the overhead unit on the library grounds -- a perfect reliever from the 90+ degree heat of mid-day.
