ADVANCE, Mo. - Advance aldermen met in special session at 6 p.m. on Thursday, Aug. 18, 2011 to approve several business applications for annexation into the Advance city limits.
Aldermen Wayne Page, Leeman Shirrell, and Carol Blanton signed an ordinance to annex adjacent land off Highway 25 south of Advance. Alderman Randy Schrader was unable to make the meeting. The annexation brings two existing businesses and one prospective business into the city, where they will be hooked up to city sewer and water. The O-25 shop and Video One are included in the action, as well as the new MidSouth Investment property known as Advance Assisted Living, which is under construction next to Town and County Supermarket.
The Assisted Living facility will house 44 residents in private rooms and senior suites. The construction project is in the early stages at this point; developers said recently that they hoped for a February, 2012 finish date for the new building. It is expected to initially employ 8 to 10 employees with a possible future for more, depending on the resident population.
The Advance Board of Aldermen will be meeting again on Thursday, Aug. 25, 2011 at six p.m. to consider other matters.
