Dexter Tree Board names September Yards of Month

The Dexter Tree Board awarded September’s commercial Yard of the Month to First State Bank and Trust. The numerous trees and shrubs, especially the crepe myrtles, impressed the judges.

Ward 1 yard award winners are Kris and Leigh Willis.

The judges said, “A lovely, well maintained yard with green shrubs and rock edging make this a very eye catching home on Redwood Drive. A pot of flowers on the front porch and red rose bushes add colorful beauty.”

Ward 2 yard award winner is Mike and Joanne Mangum.

“The stately home on Chautauqua Street was built in 1912, and is surrounded by landscaping with all manner of plants. Box woods and monkey grass nestled inside stone planters filled with grey slate. It is all overseen by a towering oak in the front yard,” said the tree board judges.

Ward 3 yard award winner is Dennis and Mary Ann Reel.

The yard on South Hickory was described by the judges as, “Very clean and manicured with very nice plants.”

This will be the last edition of Dexter Tree Board’s yards of the month for 2024. Coverage will begin again next spring.
