Butler County Coroner Andy Moore announced Wednesday afternoon the patient who died while under investigation for possible COVID-19 tested negative for the coronavirus.

Moore said an elderly Butler County resident was admitted to a local hospital with symptoms related to COVID-19, and a test was done at that time.

“Unfortunately, before the results were available, the patient passed away,” Moore said.

The patient, Moore said, died Tuesday morning.

“Test results are negative on the person under investigation for possible COVID-19,” Moore said.

Those results were returned on Wednesday.

“It is my sincere goal to educate and keep our community informed of the always evolving crisis that we are facing if it involves my office,” Moore said in a Facebook post.

Moore said his office and other agencies will “continue, as always, in the best interest of the community to bring you quick and accurate information.”

Out of respect for the family, Moore said, he will not release any further details about the death.
