A southbound Tyson tractor trailer rig loaded with crated live chickens struck an eastbound SUV on the Highway 25/60 overpass Saturday afternoon, leaving the driver of the SUV injured and hundreds of chickens and debris strewn in the median just south of the overpass.

Dexter Police, the Highway Patrol, Stoddard County EMS and Dexter Fire Department's Extrication Team were on the scene shortly after 2 p.m.

The driver of the Tyson truck escaped serious injuries, but the driver of the SUV was transported by ambulance from the scene.

At 6 p.m., a clean-up crew remained on the scene removing chickens, dead and alive, and cleaning up the wreckage.

Details surrounding the accident were not yet released at 6:15 p.m. on Saturday, but will be posted as they become available.
