Mark E. Hatfield, son of Willa Neal Hatfield Gardner and the late Cleo Edward Hatfield, was born in Hammond, Ind., on Sept. 15, 1952, and died at SoutheastHEALTH of Stoddard County in Dexter, on March 24, 2014, at the age of 61.
Mark had been raised in Chattanooga, Tenn., enlisted in the U. S. Navy and served four years and nine months; he had lived in Nashville, Tenn., for several years employed as a sprinkler installer before moving to Essex, Mo., before his health forced his retirement. He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.
On Aug., 10, 2009, he was married to Donna Sue Marrs in Bloomfield, Mo.
Surviving are his wife, Donna Hatfield of Essex, Mo.; one daughter, Cherise
Hatfield of Cape Girardeau, Mo.; one son, Joseph Marrs of Charleston, Ill.; two grandchildren, P. J. and Mia Mattrisota; his mother, Willa Neal Hatfield Gardner; four brothers, Jeffrey W. Hatfield of Advance, Mo., Eric N. Hatfield of Mishawaki, Ind., Kevin L. and William D. Hatfield both of Ashland City, Tenn.; one sister, Susan Hatfield Gaines of Dexter, Mo. Other relatives and friends also survive.
He was preceded in death by one son, Mark Edward "Buck" Hatfield, Jr. and his father, Cleo Edward Hatfield.
Visitations will be held Wednesday, March 26, 2014, from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Watkins and Sons Funeral Home in Dexter, Mo. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, March 27, 2014, at 11 a.m. at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in Dexter.
Interment will be in the Missouri Veteran's Cemetery in Bloomfield, Missouri with full military honors. Watkins and Sons Funeral Service of Dexter in charge of arrangements.
