BLOOMFIELD, Mo. - An Advance man arrested for allegedly molesting a small child appeared in court Thursday.

Daniel Keith Dye, 38 of Advance, was originally arrested in September for possession of methamphetamine and paraphernalia. Since being arrested, the charges regarding the molestation case were filed. The added charges include the unclassified felony of first degree statutory rape of a person less than 14 and the unclassified felony of statutory sodomy and deviate sexual intercourse with a person less than 14 years old.

He appeared Thursday for a preliminary hearing to determine whether there was sufficient evidence for him to be bound over to Division 1.

After hearing the evidence in the case, Judge Joe Satterfield ruled that there was probable cause for the case be sent to Division 1 for further proceedings.

He is scheduled to appear before Presiding Judge Stephen Sharp on Nov. 7 at 10:30 a.m.

On Sept. 11, 2012, the victim's mother, accompanied by the victim, visited the Bell City Police Department to tell of what had happened.

The mother stated that her child had been touched inappropriately on multiple occasions in addition to other incidents.

The molestations are believed to have occurred in the bedroom of Dye at his home on Freeze St. in Advance.

As the officer questioned the victim, the child reportedly grasped the mother's leg and admitted to being scared. The victim stated that they had been told by Dye that if they ever told anyone they would be in big trouble.

When asked how long this had been going on, the victim stated "Since I was little," and put a hand parallel to the ground to show the approximate age.

The victim was able to describe Dye's bedroom.

The officer in the report notes that Dye was convicted in 1999 of endangering the welfare of a child after "openly admitting to having sexual intercourse with a juvenile.

A Chapter 491 hearing is still scheduled in the case for Nov. 1, 2012 regarding the testimony of the child victim.

His bond has been set at $20,000 cash-only and he remains in jail at this time.
